Imphal, April 06 2024:
With the 18th Lok Sabha election approaching, Union home minister Amit Shah is likely to visit Manipur and campaign for BJP candidate as well as NDA partner NPF's candidate for the upcoming election.
As per a reliable source, Amit Shah is most likely to visit the state on April 10 and campaign for BJP candidate for the Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency Th Basanta Kumar and NPF candidate in the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency Kachui Timothy Zimik.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is one of the star campaigners for BJP for the 18th Lok Sabha election to be held across the country in seven phases.
Notably, Union home minister Amit Shah last visited Manipur on May 29, 2023 during the height of the ethnic violence erupted on May 3, 2023 and stayed in the state for three days.
He visited Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and various other violence affected places and assured of ending the violence within a short period after meeting civil society leaders and people.
His upcoming visit to the state will be after more than ten months.
Even though fire-fight between the two warring communities had stopped ever since the announcement of election schedule, the violence is yet to be brought to a complete end.
As there is no solution to end the violence between two communities, political parties and candidates contesting for the polls are yet to organise big campaign, rally or public meetings.
Nevertheless, it is learnt that a huge public meeting is being planned for Amit Shah's visit to the state but yet to finalise the exact place and time for the public meeting.
Meanwhile, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio is likely to visit Manipur to campaign for the NPF's Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency candidate Kachui Timothy Zimik.
In view of the prevailing situation in the state and restriction from some groups, none of candidates for the upcoming polls are yet to organise big public meeting or erect posters or banners.
However, some wall posters are seen pasted at some places for BJP candidate for Inner Manipur Th Basanta Kumar.
