Fitting tributes paid to martyrs of Thoubal Athokpam Battle

Thoubal, April 06 2024:
Befitting tributes were paid to the martyrs of Thoubal Athokpam Battle, a part of Anglo-Manipuri War 1891 during a commemoration programme held at DLCYC community hall, Thoubal Athokpam today.
The programme commenced with paying of homage and floral tributes to martyrs who laid down their lives for the Motherland Manipur while fighting against the British forces namely Sanakhwa Yaiskullakpa, Macha Ibungo Sengoisana and other unsung heroes.
Today's commemoration programme was organised by the Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipur War, 1891, Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak (Manipur) and Ningthemcha Ningshing Lup along with the descendants of the martyrs.
Former MLA of Khangabok AC, O Landhoni Devi; Justice Committee chairman H Ibotombi Khuman and Ningthemcha Ningshing Lup Advisor RK Joychandra graced as the presidium members of the occasion.
Later, the attendees paid floral tributes to the martyrs at Arong River.
Retired Professor N Joykumar spoke as a resource person about the contributions of Sanakhwa Yaiskullakpa and Macha Ibungo Sengoisana in the Thoubal Athokpam Battle.
Addressing the gathering, O Landhoni assured to extend all possible help to hold this commemoration event of martyrs in a more grand manner and to construct a memorial complex in their honour.
