TBG125 prays for peace in Manipur

Amidst the prolonged communal turmoil in Manipur, the ongoing celebration of the Tangkhul Baptist Gospel Quasquicentennial and the Quinquennial Fellowship (TBG125) on Saturday brought together Christians from across the globe to pray for the restoration of peace in the state.
Themed Tn the Fullness of His Time', the event was organised by Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) in Ukhrul town to commemorate 125 years of Christianity in Ukhrul district, the starting point of the gospel in the state.
Union Baptist Church (UBC) pastor reverend Remember Rimai led a special prayer session, 'Shorkar Mawunphun Sokhami Seiha' (prayer for those at the helm of govenance), alongside Phungyo Baptist Church (PBC) pastor reverend Zaklei Kaping and TBCA executive secretary reverend Mathotmi Vasah.
The prayer session was attended by Transport and Veterinary & Animal Husbandry minister Khashim Vashum and Lok Sabha (outer Manipur) MP Lorho S Pfoze.
The entire congregation, including the minister and MP, fervently prayed for the restoration of peace and unity in Manipur.
Minister Vashum, who attended the celebration on behalf of CM N Biren Singh, conveyed the message of the CM to TBCA, TBG125 committee, visiting delegates and the congregation, welcoming all those who have travelled from far to visit the state and be a part of the celebration.
He commended PBC and TBCA for achieving the centenary and quasquicentennial.
Expressing his anticipation for the 150th anniversary, he appealed for the unity within the Tangkhul Baptist community and urged all Baptist churches, regardless of their zonal affiliations to come together and celebrate the 150th celebration.
As part of the event, 'One Grace', a Christian musical band based in the USA, and the Jubilee Choir performed hymns, praises and worship songs.
Later, Jessami Baptist Church and Talui Baptist Church also showcased various cultural displays.
It can be mentioned that the celebrations kicked off on April 4 and will continue till April 8 with the streets of Ukhrul town adorned with vibrant colors and decorations.
The TBG125 is a significant milestone for the Tangkhul Baptist Church, marking 125 years of Christianity brought by American missionary reverend William Pettigrew in 1896.The Quinquennial Fellowship, on the other hand, is a five-yearly gathering of the Tangkhul Baptist community to reaffirm their faith and bond together in solidarity.
