Tributes paid to Yaiskullakpa, Sengoisana

In a commemoration ceremony held at DLCYC community hall in Thoubal Athokpam on Saturday, locals paid tribute to Sanakhya Yaiskullakpa and Macha Ibungo Sengoisana, who were killed by British soldiers in Thoubal Athokpam on April 6,1891 during the Anglo-Manipur War.
At the programme which was jointly organised by Justice Committee on Anglo-Manipur War, 1891 Mature and Freedom Fighters, Kangleipak (Manipur) along with Ningthemcha Ningshing Lup, locals along with Khangabok Kendra former MLA O Landhoni Devi, Justice Committee chairman H Ibotombi Khuman, Ningthemcha Ningshing Lup advisor RK Joychandra paid floral tribute to Yaiskullakpa, Sengoisana and other soldiers who were martyred.
Later, participants of the programme offered tribute to the martyrs at Arong river.
During the pogramme, retired professor N Joyku-mar spoke about Sanakhya Yaiskullakpa and Macha Ibungo Sengoisana as resource person.
Former MLA O Landhoni assured of extending support in not only organising the ceremony in a grand manner in future but also in the construction of memorials for the martyrs.
Justice Committee chairman H Ibotombi Khuman said that with the aid from the local MLA, a memorial along with a meeting hall will be constructed soon.
