Cultural shows mark third day of TBG-125

Cultural shows added fervor to the ongoing 'Tangkhul Baptist Gospel (TBG) Quasquicentennial & Quinquennial Fellowship' held at the District Headquarters ground, Wino Bazar, Ukhrul.
The third day of the event witnessed various eye-catching cultural shows represented by different Tangkhul villages of Ukhrul district.
Today's programme was graced by Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and Transport, Khashim Vashum and outer MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze.
Khashim Vashum expressed his contentment that the Tangkhul Christian community is able to host such a grand celebration and to witness 125 years of the fellowship with Jesus Christ.
The Minister welcomed the foreign nationals invitees and urged the congregation to pray for restoration of peace and tranquility in Manipur.
He also read out the greetings of the Chief Minister N Biren Singh to the gathering.
He went on to mention that although the Chief Minister could not attend the celebration, he has been giving special concern and extending solidarity with the people to make TBG-125 a mega and successful event.
Furthermore, the Minister stressed on the need for collective support and co-operation of all churches to bring tangible development and physical transformation in all areas by spreading the gospel message.
Meanwhile Outer MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze said, 'We should seek God's blessing and grace to set us free from bitterness and wickedness of the world' .
It may be noted that greetings from Ukhrul MLA Ramnganing Muivah was also read out during the programme.
Rev Remember Rimai Pastor UBC Church invoked special prayer for the present State Government led by CM N Biren Singh, his Cabinet Ministers and MLAs to grant them wisdom while taking important decisions concerning the State.
As a part of the programme, Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) felicitated all tribes religious leaders of Manipur.
Colourful traditional dances and folk songs were presented by Jessami village and a short skit was displayed by Talui youths about Tangkhul traditional lifestyle before the advent of Christianity in the region.
The cultural events were displayed with an objective to promote and imbibe a new concept of oneness among all communities by interpreting the true spirit of traditional identity and togetherness for the coming generation.
The congregation also made a special offering for those persons affected by the Manipur violence, who are currently taking refuge at relief camps.
