Imphal, April 06 2024:
Stating that the chief minister's office belongs to the people and he finds it rather surprising that some people are raising questions on people visiting his office, chief minister N Biren has asked the people to refrain from criticising on the matter on social media.
Attending the 44th foundation day of BJP held at the party's state office, Nityaipat Chuthek, here, on Saturday, Biren said that he has been interacting with the people for the past many years on the occasion of Meeyamgee Numit.
This is not related with the election.
Though he stopped meeting public for a couple of months after the crisis broke out in May last year, he resumed the interactions from August last year and it will continue even after the elections.
Downplaying the criticism from some sections of the society and terming it as a political attack, he assured the party members that the party will win both Parliamentary seats of the state in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
Biren asserted that the points mentioned in the manifesto of a political party published recently reminds of the situation in 1972, in which the same party entered into an agreement with a certain organisation thereby threatening the integrity of the state.
He urged the people of the state to think cautiously and take decision as their decisions cannot be reverted.
On the other hand, people should also remember the welfare initiatives taken up by Deen Dayal Upadhyay and restoration of normalcy in Kashmir by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, he added.
Strong and united India has always been the prime objective of BJP leaders, and Manipur being part of the country, the party will always stand for the integrity and unity of the state, he reiterated.
The party made a clear statement about Manipur crisis in the Parliament, he said and asked the youth and women members of the party to carry out extensive campaign in their respective areas.
He asked them to let the public know about the stand of BJP regarding scrapping of FMR, acknowledgement of demographic imbalance in the state and updating NRC as well.
Floral tributes were paid to the portraits of BJP founders, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Deen Dayal Upadhyay on the occasion.
Former state presidents and veteran leaders of the party were also honoured.
BJP Manipur Pradesh president A Sharda, secretary organisation Abhay Giri, election in-charge Ajit Guptacharya, MLAs and ministers also attended the programme.
Ajit Guptacharya said that he was appointed as the in-charge of the state to increase the party's strength and encourage party members.
He called upon the people to support BJP in the election.
