SFs seize 41 kg of gel explosives, arms, ammos

Personnel of 107 Territorial Army (TA) recovered 41.875 kg of gel explosives from a cement loaded truck which fell into a gorge in Kambiron area in Nungba sub-division, on Thursday.
According to an informed source, a team of 107 TA on their way to Jiribam from Imphal came across a truck (WB 33D 4700) loaded with cement bags fallen in a gorge of about 200 feet in Kambiron area around 4pm.The team managed to rescue the driver who was sent to Silchar for medical treatment.
On checking the truck, the TA team found 335 numbers of gel explosives weighing 41.875 kg hidden among the cement bags.
The recovered item has been handed over to Nungba police for further necessary legal process.
Meanwhile, state and central forces on Thursday conducted search operations at different locations and recovered arms and ammunition including bombs.
According to police reports, a combined team of Bishnupur district commando, 5 Sikh Regiment and C29 SSB conducted search operation from 6 am till 9.30 am along the southern foothills of Sadu Nepali Basti under Loktak police station and recovered one each carbine, MK-2 stand with magazine, anti-riot gun, local made 303 rifle, country made 9 mm pistol with magazine, six tear gas smoke shells, three grenade tube launchers, 13 handgrenades, one Chinese hand grenade, 11 rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, three 7.62 mm rounds, five grenade launching rings and one BP jacket.
The recovered items were handed over to Loktak police station for further actions, it added.
Thoubal district police also conducted search operation in Wang-bal Mayai Leikai Maning area from 5.30 to 6.30 on Thursday covering 43 houses and verification 97 individuals but without any arrest or recovery.
On the other-hand, a statement of Manipur police control room on Wednesday stated that search operation was conducted at Champhai village of Imphal East and E Bungjang village of Churachandpur district resulting in recovery of one each local made pistol, local made 22 revolver, pompi, tube launcher, two mortar shells, two handgrenades (Smoke), three no 75MK-2 detonators, one blank fire attachment, 31 empty cases, two SLR magazines, two 38 mm rubber bullets, four 12 bore cartridges, walking talkies set arid three bullet proof plates from Champhai village.
At E Bungjang village, the team recovered one 52 mm mortar, 11 country made single barrel guns, one .22 country made pistol with magazine, one .32 country made pistol with magazine, six 51 mm mortar rounds, 11 rounds of 9 mm pistol, it added.
