Imphal, April 04 2024:
A two day academic discourse organised by Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has taken several resolutions to fight "fabrication of Manipur history" .
The discourse, which concluded at Castle Hotel, Konung Mamang today, unanimously affirmed that some Kuki intellectuals are "fabricating and distorting" the history of Manipur to "mislead" the people.
While Manipur has written historical records, some pseudo-intellectuals from the Kuki community, as part of their evil design/cam-paign, have propagated false narratives to distort the history of Manipur, said one of the resolutions adopted in the discourse.
It said appropriate and strict measures must be taken to face the distortion and fabrication of the historical facts.
The academicians and intellectuals, during the discourse, decided to write to publication companies and competent authorities concerned for necessary rectification of articles and papers published in reputed journals.
The discourse stressed that errors and fabricated narratives in the published papers must be pointed out with facts and academic exercises to raise awareness among the people must be conducted by intellectuals.
It also agreed that books and papers containing fabricated facts and false narratives shouldn't be kept in Libraries for consumption of the students.
Further, the State Government should be urged to form a think-tank group comprising experts of relevant fields to monitor and study the contents of books on Manipur's history/culture/ethnography.
The think-tank group should be given the task to identify books without authenticated sources, it added.
In addition, the discourse agreed that Ethics Committees of all universities in Manipur should strictly monitor all theses and publication related to the School of Social Science and Humanities for content that may harm the interests of communities in Manipur.
It agreed that only those theses and papers which have got the committee's ethical clearance must be allowed to be published.
The discourse also agreed that the Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) would be given the charge to implement the resolutions.
