Conserve lac insects, earn additional income through lac farming : CAU

College of Agriculture, Central Agriculture University (CAO, CAU), Imphal, Professor Kh Ibohal has appealed to the fanners community in the State to conserve the lac insects and earn additional incomes through lac farming.
Prof Kh Ibohal made the appeal during the "One Day Farmers' Awareness Programme on Scientific Methods of Lac Cultivation for Additional Fanners' income" for Imphal West district, held at the conference hall of the varsity today.
He continued that Lac cultivation has been booming in some States of the country and other parts of the world as the articles/items produced from it are in huge demand throughout the world.
Prof Kh Ibohal also asserted that farmers could earn a huge profit by adopting the scientific methods of Lac cultivation as it requires only a minimal effort and cost.
Prof Nabachandra underscored the importance of adopting scientific methods of agriculture and allied programmes in addressing the challenges faced in agricultural and allied sectors in the country.
Claiming that the agriculture in India and other parts of the world faces stiff challenges owing to certain factors like increasing population, shrinking agricultural lands and drastic climatic variation, Nabachandra observed that such problems could be minimized to a great extent if the people adopt scientific methods of farming.
Dean of COA, CAU, Imphal, Prof Indira Sarangthem also attended the programme as a presidium member.
