Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony (IFPH) has issued a resounding call for conduct of free and fair elections in the state, amidst the backdrop of escalating ethnic violence.

IFPH, in its appeal to various stakeholders including the state government, election commission, security forces, citizens, and political parties, emphasised the critical need for creating an environment conducive to transparent elections for the 18th Lok Sabha 2024.While highlighting the gravity of the situation, IFPH also underscored the urgent necessity for electing leaders capable of addressing the pressing issues confronting Manipur, particularly the protracted ethnic violence that has plagued the region for the past 11 months.
The Forum also expressed solidarity with the thousands of individuals, including women, children, elderly, and youth, who have been displaced and are residing in relief camps, and urged for swift resettlement and reconstruction efforts to restore peace and stability in the state.
Emphasising the extraordinary circumstances under which the elections are being held, amidst ethnic conflicts and unrest, IFPH stressed the pivotal role of leadership in bringing about an end to violence and initiating peace processes at both governmental and grassroots levels.
