Neuro Navigation System Machine inaugurated at RIMS

Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, Director, RIMS, Imphal, inaugurated a "Neuro Navigation System Machine" at CTVS OT Complex, RIMS, Imphal on Thursday.
According to a release issued by RIMS Imphal, the inaugural ceremony was attended by Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, Imphal; RK Mecolt Singh, Deputy Director (Admn), RIMS, Imphal; Sairem Sarat Singh, CAO/FA, RIMS, Imphal and Dr Th Gojendra Singh, Head, Department of Neurosurgery Unit, RIMS, Imphal along with all the HODs, faculty members, nursing officials and staff of RIMS, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof G Sunil Kumar informed that Neuro Navigation is an advanced technology application generally used in brain nerve and spinal cord surgeries.
"It can be compared to the navigation systems used in automobiles and mobile phones.
Neuro Navigation provides guidance to the surgeon during surgery and helps to plan a sensitive surgical approach to the targeted lesion by defining the surrounding nerve and vascular structures", he added.
The Director shared that the Neuro Navigation System, which significantly increases the success of brain, nerve and spinal cord surgery, also allows surgeries to be safer.
Further, Prof G Sunil Kumar asserted that with the use of Neuro Navigation technology it becomes safer with almost zero error and the healthy tissue is damaged at the least level.
