PTRC, CHAMP prevail in Elite Toumament

PTRC and CHAMP Cricket Club notched up wins in the MNCA Elite Tournament on Wednesday.
PTRC outplayed MODEL by 43 overs in their league match played at Cherapur, Thoubal.
The Patsoi side opted to bat and posted 242 after being dismissed in 39.2 overs.
Key performers in their innings were Ngariyanbam Johnson (50), Gemson Mutum (36), Ngariyanbam Jameson (35), Chingakham Bidash (26), Loitongbam Shitaljit (26) and Rajkumar Rex (18 not out).
Somorjit Salam turned out to be the chief destroyer for MODEL, scalping five wickets while Sunil Salam took three, with Robertson Laishram and Waikhom Priyokumar accounting for one each.
In reply, MODEL relied on Langlonyamba Singh (64), Suson Yanglem (40 not out), Sunil Salam (38 not out) and Somorjit (22) to put up a brave fight but came up short.
They played the complete 40 overs to score 210, falling short of 32 runs.
PTRC successfully defended their total courtesy of Chingakham Bidash and Khaidem Joyraj who both finished with two wickets, and Gemson Mutum, Jotin Pheiroijam and N Johnson who bagged one each.
Ngariyanbam Johnson (50 runs & 1 wicket) took home the man of the match trophy.
At Oriental College, CHAMP thumped REYS by 74 runs.
Electing to bat, CHAMP scored 193/7 in their 40 overs as Leikram Johny top-scored for his side with 69, followed by Lairenjam Ansh Singh 144), Thingbaijam Nicholson 23 not out), Md Sharoz Khan 17), Nongthombam Gulson 12) and Nitesh Sedai (11).CHAMP produced a disciplined bowling attack to stop REYS at 119/9 in 32.5 overs for their emphatic 74-run victory.
Md Sultan Karim was the pick of CHAMP's bowlers with a haul of four wickets as Md Ahsanul Kabir snapped two, and Thingbaijam Nicholson and Naharul Islam got one each.
In REYS' run chase, Alfred Hmar (26 not out), Laishram Daniel (22) and Romario (15) were the only batters who could score in double digits.
Md Sultan Karim was named the man of the match for his four wickets.
