District skill cum employment mela organised

Imphal, March 01 2023:
The District Skill cum Employment Mela, 2023 organised by Imphal East District Skill Committee was held on Tuesday at Panchayat Bhawan, Porompat with Manipur Society for Skill Development mission director LN Kashung, Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana Devi and additional DC Shamim Ahmad Shah as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively of the inaugural programme.
Ten private firms namely Eastern Motors, Romi Bag Industries, Sky Hospital & Research Centre, Eastern Auto Agency, Medilane Healthtech & Consultancy Services, Classic Group of Hotels, Globizs Web Solutions, Dweller Private Limited, Wangkhei Eye Hospital and Timespro Channel Partner HRC, Imphal opened stalls to cater to public.
Eight training providers namely Ayana Creative Enterprises; Integrated Research & Resource Development Organisation; JCRE Skills Solution; KB Philanthropy 5; JACEEX Ventures LLP; NIELIT Imphal; Anudip Foundation for Social Welfare Organisation; U-fitness Centre; KVK, Andro, Agriculture Department, Imphal EAst and Department of Veterinary, Imphal East were the other agencies, which set up stalls in the mela.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest LN Kashung emphasised on the importance of government sponsored training programmes like PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana) in enhancing the skill ecosystem and overall employability of the youth and urged the youth and participants to avail services and other opportunity of the mela.
Addressing the gathering, additional DC Shamim Ahmad Shah highlighted the importance of skill development and encouraged the youth to enrol themselves in skilling/training courses to increase their overall employability in diverse sectors.
The inaugural session was followed by a panel discussion on the topic "Importance of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and its Avenues" moderated by JCRE Skills Solutions managing director Lairenjam Niranjan.
Dr Pibarel Meetei, MD, Medilane Healthtech & Consultancy Services; Roshni kumar Yambem, founder, Globiz Web Solutions; Michelle Salam of Michelle's Sweet Temptation Bakery; L Manoranjan Singh, CEO, KB Philanthropy-5; and Dr S Monibala Devi, Sr Scientist, Head, KVK Andro participated as the main panellists.
The panel discussion centred on the different avenues of employment generation in Manipur with special emphasis on entrepreneurship development and skill training..
The panellists stressed on the need for such open discourse and deliberation between the government, the academia, industry partners, NGOs, CSOs and private individuals.
The mela witnessed a footfall of more than 400 participants from diverse backgrounds and age groups.
The mela was coordinated by Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow-Imphal East Soniya Kangjam, who is also member of District Skill Committee, Imphal East.
