Lilong college celebrates National Science Day

The four-day awareness programme on promotion of science education among the youths in the rural areas in Thoubal district organised by Minority Peoples and Rural Development Society (MPRDS), Sangaiyumpham with support of the NCSTC Division, Department of Science & Technology concluded on Wednesday at Lilong Haoreibi College Multipurpose Hall, Usoipokpi in Thoubal district.
The closing function cum prize Distribution Ceremony was organised to mark the celebration of National Science Day 2023 on the theme: 'Global Science for Global Well-being' in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Lilong Haoreibi College.
According release to prin -cipal investigator of the four-day event Dr Md Raheijuddin Sheikh, who is also the college principal, the valedictory programme had Manipur University professor (physics) Ngangkham Nimai Singh, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Utlou associate dean Dr Senjam Jinus and LHC Zoology head Dr L Sanahanbi Devi delivering lecture each on different topics as resource persons.
As part of the event, a science painting competition on the the theme 'Global Science for Global Well-being', extempore speech competition on science topics, science Quiz competition and Science Model Making Competitions were also organised.
Smart irrigation system, Automatic room lighting system, Door lock using password system, Smart Notice Board system, Smart Dustbin or Automatic Dustbin, Bluetooth car, Driverless car, Automatic gas leak detection, Telescope, Security alarm, etc., were some of the science models displayed on the occasion, said the release.
It also informed that Kyamgei Ideal High School bagged most of the prizes in the science model making competition while Islamic Baby English School secured first position in Science Quiz and Painting competitions.
Wafana Begum of Islamic Baby English School, Kh Seema Naobi of Lilong Haoreibi College and Shushani Begum of Bright Brain Institute Lilong clinched the top three positions in painting competition.
Islamic Baby English School, Lilong Haoreibi College and Munira English School Sangaiyumpham wrested the first, second and third place in the quiz competition while Samsida Banu, T Merinda and Kh Ashif were awarded prizes in extempore competition.
