Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that there is no proposal at the moment to set up a Fire Sub-Station in all Constituencies of the State.
The Chief Minister was responding to a query raised by Congress MLA Th Lokeshwar in today's sitting of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Responding to another matter raised by Congress MLA K Ranjit in the question hour, N Biren stated that a Fire Service Station has already been established in 12 districts viz Imphal West, Bishnupur, Chura-chandpur, Thoubal, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Kangpokpi, Ta-menglong, Jiribam and Kakching.
Continuing that there however is a plan to set up modern Fire Stations in all the districts, N Biren maintained that equipment to fight fire and protective gears for the firefighters have also been procured.
The districts which don't have a Fire Station are Imphal East, Noney, Kamjong and Pherzawl, the Chief Minister said and added that there is a proposal to set up a Fire Station of Imphal East at Lamlai and for Kamjong and Pherzawl at their respective district headquarters.
To a question raised by MLA Kh Loken, Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai said that work order of project amounting to Rs 44.56 crore has been handed over to M/S Keystone Infra Private Limited as a civil work component for construction of Imphal Barrage on June 24, 2021 .
The project is supposed to be completed within 36 months from the day the work commenced, he added.
For the hydro mechanical component, a work order amounting to Rs 44.11 crore has been entrusted to M/S Om Metals Private Limited on March 26, 2022, the Minister continued and added that the project would also be completed within 36 months from the date of the execution of the work.
Canal no 1 and 2 of the Barrage underwent a minor repair in July 2021, he said.
Responding to another query of Th Lokeshwar, RD&PR Minister Y Khemchand said that there is no programme to carry out a special maintenance work for the road constructed by Manipur State Road Development Agency a decade back.
The Minister said that funds to carry out maintenance works for some road stretches, however, will be released this month (March) .
