Maharashtra EBSB team visits tourist spots

The 50-member student team from Nagpur, Maharashtra which is on a week-long exposure tour to Manipur under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) on Wednesday visited Keibul Lamjao National Park in Bishnupur district and had a glimpse of Sangai, the brow antlered deer.
The team was also mesmerised by the beauty of Loktak lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in South Asia on which the National Park is located.
The team guided by Loktak Development Authority (LDA) chairman M Asnikumar Singh reached the national park early morning to see Sangai deer at its original natural habitat.
Asnikumar himself operated the boat with Maharashtra EBSB team on board around the lake and showed all the places in and around Loktak, Keibul Lamjao National Park.
After enjoying the scenic lake, the team also visited INA Museum, Moirang from where they went to INA HQ before heading for Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou.
On their way back to Imphal, the team visited Imphal Peace Museum at Maibam Lokpa Ching and ISKCON Temple, Sangaiprou.
The day's sightseeing concluded at Govindaji Temple, Palace Compound where the team members attended 'Arti' ceremony.
On Tuesday, they visited various tourist spots in and around the capital city besides meeting boxer Laishram Sarita Devi at her Academy, where they were given a warm reception.
While talking to the delegation, Sarita highlighted the struggles, the sweat and tears she shed before becoming a force to reckon with.
Explaining the reason behind establishing the boxing academy, she said aims to mould and guide the future generation as well as to hone skills of among the youth who will one day glorify India in the field of sports.
The delegation then visited historic Kangla fort, where they toured the sacred places such as Sanamahi temple and museum inside the fort.
The team then walked to Saheed Minar at Mapal Kangjeibung, world's oldest polo ground and then proceeded to Ima Keithel, the iconic all-women-run market.
They also visited Olympian Park at Sangaithel in Imphal West district.
In the evening, the EBSB delegates went to 'Marjing Sagol Kangjei Mitarn constructed at the Marjing Polo Complex.
The Maharashtra EBSB team arrived here to reciprocate the recent visit of Manipuri students to their state and will be leaving for Maharashtra on March 3 .
The Union government had conceptualised an initiative of 'Yuva Sangam' under EBSB to strengthen people-to-people connect and build empathy between youth of the NE states and other states of the country.
