Manipur slump to fifth loss in Col CK Nayudu Trophy

Imphal, February 07 2023:
Manipur suffered an innings and 480 runs defeat at the hands of Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing Col CK Nayudu Trophy at Gujarat College Cricket Ground-A .
It was the fifth straight loss for Manipur at the U-25 first class cricket tournament this season.
Manipur won the toss and opted to bat first but were bundled out for a paltry total of 69 runs in 44.5 overs before Uttar Pradesh piled up 664 runs for 6 and declared their innings after 126.2 overs.
Trailing by 595 runs, Manipur faltered yet again in the second innings and were bowled out in 42.5 overs.
Al Bashid scored the highest 37 runs for Manipur in their first innings which saw Kritagya KK Singh (4/25 in 16 overs) and Zeeshan Ansari (4/18 in 11.5 overs) combining well to destroy the State line up.
In UP's first innings, Sameer Rizvi blasted 297 runs off just 191 balls as Abishek Goswami (70), Vishal Pandey (94) and Siddhart Yadav (92) scored half centuries.
Th Anand picked up three wickets in this innings as Suraj Kharibam, Kiran Laishram and Joyraj picked up a wicket apiece.
In Manipur's second innings, Santosh Kh (27), Al Bashid (18) and Kiran Laishram (15) were main run getter as Purnank Tyagi (3/35 in 9 overs), Kritagya (3/27 in 10.5 overs) and Zeeshan Ansari (2/11 in 7 overs) wreaked havoc.
Manipur will play Jharkhand from February 12 in the penultimate match.
