Drugs worm Rs 6.68 cr seized, one held

Drugs worth over Rs 6 crore have been seized by a team of Chakpikarong police from an individual during a poppy cultivation field survey in Aishi village and Khongtal village areas under Chandel district on Tuesday.
The captive has been identified as Khai lam Haokip (40) S/o Lamsat of Ngamun village, Kangpokpi.
According to police report, as part of war on drugs 2.0, a team of Chakpikarong police led by SI Kh Bhaktajit Singh under the supervision of Shankerjit Loitongbam, additional SP (L/O)-Chandel left Chakpikarong police station for field survey at Aishi and Khongtal villages on Tuesday.
On reaching Aishi village, the team spotted an individual near Aishi village church carrying two green plastic sacks on his back.
Suspecting him to be a poppy cultivator since the area is at a fair distance from the proper village he was stopped for checking and verification and was identified as Khailam Haokip.
He was brought to Chakpikarong Police Station for further verification in the presence of a magistrate during which the two green plastic sacks were found containing 275 soap cases of suspected brown sugar along with mobile keypad handset (itel) white in colour without SIM card, one SSBL gun (No BE-2389-2004), 12G-70 mm Chamber/Shaktiman guns, one high velocity 70 mm bore cartridge and Rs 1610 in cash.
The seized items along with Khailam Haokip have been handed over to Chakpikarong Police Station for taking further necessary action.
In another case of drug seizure, Modi Battalion of IGAR (South) recovered narcotics from general area T Bong-mol in Tengnoupal district on February 4 .
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that a mobile check post at Temporary Operating Base, Yangoubong was established at general area T Bong mol during night of February 3 based on specific input about movement of contrabands.
At 3 pm on February 4, search of the surrounding area was carried out in anticipation of presence of smugglers.
During the search, the troops discovered a white bag hidden in the thick foliage on side of the road leading to Parlon.
The bag contained 31 soap cases with suspected brown sugar weighing 342 gm worth Rs 68,40,000.The recovered items have been handed oyer to Tengnoupal police station for further investigation.
