Imphal, February 07 2023:
The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has claimed that instances of kidnapping of Reliance Company of India along with their vehicle for ransom is reportedly being carried out by ZUF headed by Jenchui Kamei.
A press release issued by G Nguiba of another faction of ZUF claimed that "some officials were headed off to Dolang and were being held captive by Alur Sekho of Dolang Village, a member of ZUF (J) and his gang.
Questioning the motive of the tripartite agreement, i.e Cessation of Operation, it asked "why kidnapping , threatening and all kinds of anti-social and anti development activities continue in Zeliangrong areas especially in Noney and Tamenglong.
"Is the CoO the license given by the Indian Government to Jenchui Kamei and his gang to threaten, loot and kill civilians, Government and contract officials who are engaged in development activities in Assam, Manipur and Nagaland," it claimed.
"This gang had resorted to such modus operandi for nearly a decade for furtherance of the anti-social activities camouflaging in the name of Zeliangrong movement which in fact was for personal aggrandisement," it claimed.
Claiming that the cadres of ZUF (J) are still moving around freely with arms and earn money through ransom and threat, it said.
"We will not stand as mute spectators to such groups or organisations and if such activities are allowed any further" .
