Manipur Cycling Association warns against "unauthorized fund raise"

The Manipur Cycling Association (MCA) has warned all concerned to refrain from extending donations to "unauthorized persons" who have been seeking donations on the pretext of participating in cycling national championships.
MCA in a released stated that it has came to learn that some individuals, who are not member of the association, have sought donations from Ministers, MLAs, CSOs and other individuals in connection with participation of Manipur team in the National Track Cycling held respectively at NLIPE Campus, Guwahati, Assam from December 11 to 15, 2022 and National Road Cycling Championships held at Sinner, Nashik, Maharashtra January 7 to 10, 2023 .
MCA further stated that these individuals have also imposed a subscription of unreasonable big amounts to participating cyclists as participation fee beyond rules.
Considering the matter, MCA convened its managing committee meeting on February 1 and resolved to come out with a clarification that the existing committee has never sought any kind of donations from Ministers, ex-Ministers, MLAs, CSOs and other general public in connection with any championship, it said.
With financial support from Manipur Olympic Association and Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, State team managed by the association have stupendous performances at the 36th National Games hosted last year in Gujarat and North East Olympic Games hosted in Meghalaya, noted MCA while adding that such practise will continue in the future events too.
Appealling to all concerned to be aware of the facts and deny support to "unauthorized persons" in the name of the association, the association warned cyclists and parents who are supporting the "unauthorized persons" may face grave consequences at the time of verification of their achievements and at the time of seeking job.
MCA further stated that the association is functioning with valuable support from the general public and department concerned and even if it needs further support, it will seek support with proper documents bearing letterhead, proper logo, office seal and with proper official receipts.
