Social Welfare Minister inaugurates Brig RS Sirohi Trophy

The 12th edition of Brig RS Sirohi Trophy, 2023 was inaugurated today in the presence of H Dingo Singh, Minister for Social Welfare, Labour and Fisheries as chief guest.
The event is being organized by Tumuyon Khullen Youth Club (TKYC) under the theme-No room for communalism.
Haokholet Kipgen, MLA of Saitu AC and Solomon Arow, president of Naga People's Organization also attended the event as the guest of honour and special guest.
Addressing the gathering, S Joseph, president of TKYC recalled that the present ground at Tumuyon Khullen village was constructed in joint effort of the 61 Mountain Brigade led by Brig RS Sirohi and its villagers.

As a token of remembrance, Brig RS Sirohi Trophy is organised annually to bring different sports persons together and spread the message of peace and unity.
While speaking at the event, MLA Haokholet Kipgen took note of the theme and urged all to uphold oneness in the State irrespective of their ethnic background.
He also urged all players to give their best by following the true spirit of the game and expressed gratitude to the Social Welfare Minister for his readiness to grace the occasion as the chief guest.
MLA Haokholet then lauded the Tumuyon Khullen village as one the most active villages under his constituency to lead in war against as initiated by the State Government.
NPO President Solomon Arow in the meantime, lauded Brig R S Sirohi for having done yeoman service by constructing the village playground during his time.
In remembrance of his good works, TKYC is able to organize such tournaments, he said.
Speaking as the chief guest, Social Welfare Minister H Dingo expressed happiness on being invited to grace such an occasion.
Lauding the State Government under the leadership of CM Biren for giving utmost priority to sportspersons, H Dingo noted that the Olympian Park at Sangaithel is one the first of its kind in the history of the State.
The living statue erected at the park is done in honour of the State players in different fields, he said and continued that the State Govenment has also honoured different State players by offering them different Government jobs.
On "War against drugs," the Minister said the war will never succeed without the cooperation from all quarters.
The Minister also urged the CSOs, women organizations and youth and student organizations to play an active role in eradicating drug business in the State.
The Minister also appreciated Tumuyon Khullen for taking a lead role in the fight against poppy cultivation.
The Minister also assured to look into the needs of the people in the field of social welfare, labour and fisheries department as and when people will require his service.
He also stated that the Government is doing its best for all round developments irrespective of the valley or hills through initiatives like "Go to Hills" .
14 football clubs including noted clubs-TRAU, SU, NEROCA, YOSC and Football for change (F4C) are taking part in the tournament which will be conducted in league cum knock out format.
The final match is slated for February 17 .
