Kakching, February 07 2023:
Four brown wood owls that found at the residence of a family in Koutruk village under Sekmai assembly constituency were successfully rescued and released at Langol by Joint Co-ordination Committee on Wildlife & Biodiversity (JCCWB) members and Iroisemba Forest Beat office staff on Tuesday.
The family informed about intrusion of the wild birds to Sekmai MLA and minister Heikham Dingo and to JCWWB co-convenor Ksh Johnson.
Speaking in this regard, Dingo observed that frequent reports of animal intrusion in residential areas are mainly due to loss of wildlife habitation following environmental degradation and climate change.
He urged the people to extend support to Forest department and wildlife organisations and help in the protection and preservation of wildlife.
