SC stays HC order on Outer MP

A three-Judge Bench of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of India yesterday stayed the judgment order passed by a Single Bench of the High Court of Manipur on September 23 in connection with an election petition filed by Benjamin Mate against Outer MP Lorho S Pfoze.
The High Court had ruled the election of Lorho S Pfoze as null and void and instead declared Benjamin Mate as elected.
Outer MP Lorho S Pfoze filed an appeal before the Supreme Court challenging the judgment order passed by Justice MV Muralidaran of the High Court of Manipur.
The appeal was listed before the Supreme Court yesterday.
The bench after hearing the submission of the petitioner's counsel stayed the judgment order of the High Court of Manipur which ruled the election of Lorho S Pfoze to the 17th Lok Sabha from Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency null and void and declared Benjamin Mate as duly elected in his place.
The Supreme Court stayed the judgment order of the High Court of Manipur till the disposal of
the civil appeal.
