New technology can never replace oil painting : Nishikant
Genius of late painter noted

Imphal, October 13 2022:
Keishamthong Assembly Constituency MLA Nishikant Singh Sapam has asserted that new technology such as flex printing can never replace oil paintings.
The MLA made the statement during the 98th birth anniversary observance function of the late renowned painter Rajkumar Chandrajitsana Singh (RKCS) .
It may be noted that the event was organised by RKCS Museum of Arts and Crafts and held at RKCS Gallery, Keishamthong today.
Speaking as the chief guest, Nishikant Singh Sapam opined that the paintings of RKCS are a part of the culture and history of Manipur.

He stated that when outsiders come to Manipur, they always visit RKCS Gallery and many of them purchase a few paintings to take back home.
Highlighting the invaluable paintings in the gallery, he stated that these paintings are priceless.
Further, he spoke highly of artists while asserting that artists determine the level of development of a society.
The MLA concluded with the hope that RKCS Art Gallery will continue to be a part of Manipuri culture and history for a long time to come.
The event was also attended by Dr K Sobita, Chairperson, RKCS Museum of Arts and Crafts and Dr P Gunindro, Vice-Chancellor, Manipur University of Culture as the functional president and guest of honour respectively.
The gathering also paid a floral tribute to the bust of RKCS as a part of the day's function.
Meanwhile Tongbram Amarjit spoke briefly about the life story of RKCS.
Aside from this, the presidium members distributed prizes to the winners of 12th RKCS Memorial Children's Painting Competition.
Notably, the eminent painter was born on October 13, 1924 and breathed his last on November 20, 2004 .
In his lifetime, RKCS painted roughly 10,000 paintings and was awarded the Chitrakala Ratna award posthumously by the Manipuri Sahitya Parishad.
He also holds a record in the Limca Book of Records for the highest number of paintings displayed at a solo exhibition in 2004 .
