Phone robber held: man held with 60K WY tablets

Imphal, October 13 2022:
A man who robbed an I-phone from a mobile phone store in Mantripukhri, Imphal East district at gunpoint has been arrested.
The arrested man has been identified as Laishram Ranjan (43) s/o (L) Ibomcha of Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai Nipgth-emcha Karong.
According to police, a report was filed at Heingang PS after a viral video showing a man whisking out a gun and robbing an I-phone from a mobile phone store, Royal Accessories in Mantripukhri on October 9.Based on the report, Heingang PS conducted investigation during which the phone robber was identified as Ranjan and consequently arrested by a team of Imphal East District Police from near Ramrei Garden, Chadong on the night of October 10 .
The stolen mobile phone was also recovered by the team.
Ranjan was then produced before the Court concerned, which then remanded him to 7 days in police custody for further interrogation, police said.
Meanwhile, a team of Anti-smuggling Unit of Customs Division Imphal arrested a man with 60,000 WY tablets at around 5.30 pm on October 8 .
The arrested man has been identified as Mangzagou (35) s/o Veikim of Tuinuphai village, Churachandpur.
According to a statement released by Customs Division Imphal deputy commissioner Keerthishri S, the team arrested Mangzagou with the WY Tablets from Kwakta Bazar.
In this regard, Customs Division Imphal has registered a case and further investigation is underway.
The seized drugs are estimated to worth around Rs 6 lakh in the international market.
