Lions Club observes World Sight Day

World Sight Day, 2022 was observed today under the theme 'Love Your Eyes' at Lions Service Centre, Sangaiprou organised by Lions Club of Imphal.
In connection with the observation, eye screening for inmates and superintendents of Nabalini Astham Children Home for Girls, Ghari Awang Leikai were done at Lions Eye Hospital, said a press note by Lions Club of Imphal.
District Chairman Sight First, Dist 322D, Lion Dr Kh Rajendra Singh while presenting the keynote address emphasized on the need of taking proper care of the eyes which is one of the most important organs of the human body.
He further stated that vision conservation is the focus activity of Lions Club across the globe as propagated by Helen Keller who had appealed to the members of Lions Club to be "Knights of the Blind in the Crusade Against Darkness" .
He appealed to all to go for timely eye-check up to prevent any unwanted outcome.
Speaking as the chief guest, Lions District 322D, District Governor, Lion Dr W Gopimohan shared that Lions Club has been observing World Sight Day since 1998 to raise awareness on eye care.
Eye screening camps, eye health education programmes etc are organised by Lions Club globally in connection with the day, he added.
A short film based on the life story of Helen Keller was also screened today.
