Tengnoupal, October 13 2022:
Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Moreh has highlighted various anomalies in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Moreh area, Tengnoupal district.
In a release issued on October 10, HTC Moreh informed that the prestigious MGNREGA since its initial implementation till the last couple of years have benefited its targeted rural poorer section of the society
tremendously.
"While people are looking forward to its continued and proper implementation, there have been anomalies in execution of the work.
Nothing has gone right about the implementation of MGNREGA in the Moreh area", it claimed.
The Council alleged that the work orders are not released in time; funds meant for material components are not released nor materials are issued by Department concerned; payment of wages through individual bank accounts have been denied to many genuine job-card holders whose bank accounts have been collected; E-Muster roll is not issued; Department concerned issue emergency notice to carry out work only when it's time for social audit; Department concerned recorded and declared completion of work even before implementation of the actual work and remit wages to individual job card holders account without checking or verifying the attendance.
The council also mentioned that repeated complaints and appeals for rectification of the anomalies have gone unheard.
HTC Moreh further appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter and make thorough enquiry to rectify the wrong practices.
