RKCS observes 98th anniversary

The 98th birth anniversary of renowned painter RK Chandrajit Sana Singh, also known as RKCS, was observed by RKCS Museum of Arts and Crafts (R MAC) at the complex of RKCS Art Gallery, Keishamthong, here, on Thursday.
Inaugurating the observance as the chief guest by offering floral tributes to the portrait of RKCS, Keishamthong MLA Sapam Nishikant stated that the paintings of RKCS are part of Manipur culture and will remain so, in addition to Showcasing the important roles played by artists in development of a society.
Presiding over the function, R MAC chairman Dr K Sobita said that RKCS art gallery is a museum filled with an individual's collections.
RKCS' contributions in the field of art and Manipuri society will forever remain etched in history, she opined adding that painting is the first art of every civilisation and urged all to encourage the talented artists in the state.
She also expressed her wish for setting up an art school in the state.
Manipur University of Culture VC Dr Paonam Gunindro attended the observance as guest of honour, while Tongbram Amarjit recalled the life history of RKCS.
Later, prizes were distributed to winners of a painting competition organised by R MAC.
