Noney, October 13 2022:
The construction of Imphal-Kangchup road (Tamenglong Highway) within Khumji village jurisdiction as loan package of Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been halted owing to pending final disposal of land ownership dispute in the High Court of Manipur.
General public have been longing for early completion of the double lane road/ highway as it is the shortest route between the state capital, Imphal and Tamenglong district headquarters, which is shorter by 40 km than via Khongsang road.
The ongoing NH-137 extension from Tamenglong to Mahur (Assam) will directly link up with Imphal and Guwahati, shorter by as many as 90 km than via Dimapur route.
The urgency for immediate completion of the on-going construction of Imphal-Kangchup Tamenglong double-lane highway being executed by the Hindustan Construction Company(HCC) and the ABCI Company is gaining importance by the day.
Immediate and timely disposal of the pending court case and resumption/un-hindered continuation of the road construction will greatly help public welfare measures.
