Sit-in protests school ban by UG outfit

Denouncing the restriction/ban imposed on Slopeland Public School, Khongjom by the armed outfit KYKL; students, guardians and teachers of the school staged a sit-in protest in front of the school gate on Thursday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, a student pointed out that Slopeland Public School is a residential school and even students from outside the state come to study.
The students are in distress as they fear that they might not be able to study, the student continued, while appealing to the UG group to withdraw the restriction and allow the students to study without any fear.
A guardian of the student identified as Mutum Nirmala condemned the restriction and further informed that around 140 poor students from Khongjom and nearby villages are studying at the school free of cost.
The statement of KYKL announcing restriction on the functioning of the school from 2023 has added burden to the guardians of the poor students.
In addition to it, nine students from Tripura have been studying in the school, she continued, while urging to retract the stand of the UG group.
