Imphal, November 12 2022:
District and Sessions, Imphal West judge and District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Imphal West chairman Aribam Guneshwar said that media plays a major role in creating awareness on law among the masses.
Speaking at a one-day legal awareness programme on different NALSA schemes and special pro-bono registration for law students organised by DLSA at ADR Conference Hall, Lamphelpat, here, on Saturday, Guneshwar conceded that DLSA and MASLSA alone cannot create awareness on matters related with law among the people.
In such a situation, media plays a major role in reaching out to the people and making them aware of legal matters.
Law students are also contributing significantly in this regard and they are also providing free legal advice to the public voluntarily, he noted.
Altogether, 110 law students registered for pro-bono service, certificates of a special two-week internship were distributed to 31 law students and recognition certificates to media persons from print, electronic and digital media.
CJM, Imphal West and DLSA secretary Jangoulen Haokip and MASLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum also attended the event.
