National seminar on 'Folklore and Literature' begins

Imphal, November 12 2022:
Manipur University vice chancellor Professor N Lokendro inaugurated a two-day national seminar on Folklore and Literature' which is being organised by Society for Folklore and Literary Resource Research (SFLR), Kha Naorem Leikai, Canchipur as part of its 13th Foundation Day celebration on Saturday.
Presided over by SFLR president Prof Mani Meitei, the inaugural function was also attended by Indian Society for Commonwealth Studies president Dr Rk Dhawan as guest of honour, while Dr Mrinal Medhi delivered the keynote speech.
MU VC Prof N Lokendro released the Volume 1, Issue 1 of SFLR's biannual journal, titled 'Journal of Folklore and Literature'.
During the two-day seminar, 33 scholars from the state and outside will be presenting papers in 8 parallel sessions.
On the first day, Dr RK Dhawan, Prof S Sanatombi and Prof L Birjet were respective chairpersons of the three sessions.
On Sunday, Dr Mrinal Medhi, Prof M Mani Meitei, Dr Chirom Rajketan, Dr K Shantibala and Dr Ng Ekashini will chair over 5 sessions.
