PWF extends cash aid to five journalists

Paomee Welfare Foundation (PWF), which is a trust of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU), disbursed medical financial assistance (MFA) totalling Rs 2,70,000 to five member journalists in a simple function held at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday.
Medical board of PWF comprising doctors of RIMS, JNIMS and Shija hospitals scrutinised the applications submitted to the foundation and approved extension of the MFA to the journalists.
The beneficiaries of MFA Phase-I are Manoharmayum Bijana of Impact TV (Rs 30,000), N Jamminthang of Tullou TV (Rs 20,000), Laishram Ranbir of Morning Bell (Rs 20,000), A Balkrishna of Sanaleibak daily (Rs 1,00,000) and Rs 1,00,000 to mother of deceased Laishram Regan of Morning Bell.
Meanwhile, PWF has invited applications from journalists who underwent medical treatment during in between October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023 for availing the MFA phase II, 2022-23 .
Speaking at the function, PWF chairman and managing trustee W Shamjai, who is also AMWJU president, informed that a sum of Rs 2.7 lakh was disbursed to five of its members who submitted applications for MFA phase 1, 2022-23.Out of the five, a journalist passed away and the assistance was given to his mother.
Stating that PWF invites application for MFA twice in a year, he urged to submit the application in time.
In order to provide sufficient assistance amount to members of the union when they are not well, efforts are on to increase the PWF fund, he said and appealed to the union members to support the initiatives and also to renew their I-card in time.
He further exhorted to pay the amount for Journalists' Pension Scheme on time.
The event was also attended by PWF general secretary B Sanzu Sharma, AMWJU general secretary Khwairakpam Naoba and other members of the trust.
