Bishnupur, November 12 2022:
Even if the government is eyeing to double farmers' income, Khoijuman farmers are facing tremendous inconveniences due to absence of viable irrigation facility in the area.
As the dam constructed by minor irrigation department since 2020 has not been completed till date, farmers of Khoijuman on Saturday built a makeshift dam to raise the level of water and irrigate the agricultural land of the area.
Speaking to media persons in this regard, a farm-er identified as Khangem-that the farmers are facing a lot of problems because of unavailability of proper irrigation facilities and urged the government to complete construction of the dam at the earliest.
Doubling income of farmers will be possible when 100 'pari' of agricultural land in Khoijuman, Toubul and Kwasiphai villages which are producing horticultural items are made ever green, he added.
Drawing attention of the CM, he also urged for designating a place for selling of vegetables so as to address the problem of marketing faced by the farmers.
