National Lok Adalat held across state, cases settled

As part of the calendar programme of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) organised the 4th National Lok Adalat, the last to be held for this year, in different districts of the state on Saturday.
As per a statement released by MASLSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum, DLSAs of Imphal East and West along with MASLSA jointly organised the Lok Adalat for the two districts at Lamphel Court Complex, and High Court Legal Services Committee at the High Court premises with registrar general Gaiphulshilu Golmei as chairman and Family Court Judge M Manojkumar and registrar (judicial) Y Rothar as member for Bench no 1 .
In all, 12 cases relating to bank, insurance and matrimonial were taken up, of which 7 were settled successfully.
For Manipur state, 524 pre-litigation and pending cases concerning bank recovery, BSNL, matrimonial, criminal compoundable cases, civil, motor accident claim and NIA Act were taken up, out of which 353 including 26 pending cases were settled.
A total of Rs 5,50,59,224 was settled during the Lok Adalat, raising the settlement percentage to 66.85 per cent.
The statement further informed that MASLSA organised five National Lok Adalats this year, including a Special Lok Adalat, wherein 1372 cases were settled and disposed, and a total of Rs 15,06,31,587 settled.
The amount settled this year was noted to be higher than last year.
MASLSA appreciated the presiding officers, judicial officers, advocates, parties, officials of bank and insurance companies for helping to make the Lok Adalat a success.
On the other hand, as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration, DLSA, Chandel in association with MASLSA held the National Lok Adalat for Chandel and Tengnoupal districts.
The Bench No.l was presided over by DLSA, Chandel secretary Kimneingah Kipgen with advocates KH Jackie Lucy and JS Chamdil Anal as members, while Bench No 2 was presided over by JMFC Sarungbam Mangaleibi Chanu with advocates Rk Mohendro and RK Imoba as members.
Altogether, 58 bank recovery cases and 6 pre-litigation cases were listed, out of which 5 bank recovery and 4 pre-litigation cases were disposed and around Rs 21,94,100 settled.
DLSA, Senapati also organised the National Lok Adalat at District and Sessions Court complex, Senapati on Saturday, which was presided over by DLSA secretary Margareth Niamsiamkim as chairman with advocates Lamkhovai and M Merisena as members.
In all 21 cases, including 14 pre-litigation and 7 pending cases were taken up, out of which all the pre-litigation cases amounting to Rs 14,96,100 and 6 pending cases were settled.
An e-court services stall was also set up to inform and provide information to the masses, the statement conveyed.
On the other hand, DLSA, Thoubal organised the National Lok Adalat at District and Sessions Court Complex, Khangabok from 10am till 3.30 pm on Saturday.
Two benches were set up with District and Sessions Judge, Thoubal Binny Ngangom and JMPC Junior Division Nemkholam Lhungdim as respective chairper sons and advocates Babita Devi, Kh Arunjoy, S Kiran and L Dijendra as members.
Altogether, 12 court cases (criminal 4, matrimonial 8) and 64 pre-litigation cases were taken up, out of which 2 matrimonial cases and all 64 pre-litigation cases were settled for a total amount of Rs 23,92,687 .
Around Rs 6,07,687 was also collected, a release by DLSA secretary in-charge Masana E Panmei informed.
