BEFI event resents bank privatisation policy

Bank Employees' Federation of India (BEFI), Manipur organised its 8th Manipur State Conference under the theme "Save Bank and Save The Nation" at Heikham Kala Singh Memorial community hall, Thangmeiband on Saturday.
The programme was attended by BEHI HQ vice president Dinesh Chandra Kakati, Manipur unit president S Bijoy Singh, Bank Employees Federation NER treasurer Dibakar Barman, SBI Officers' Association, Manipur regional secretary S Sanahal Sharma and SBI Staff Association, North Eastern Circle assistant general secretary Loitongbam Maipak Meetei as the presidium members.
Addressing the gathering, S Bijoy said that many educated youths are being employed in over 1.18 lakh bank branches across the country since 2021 till date.
While expressing concern over privatisation of many public sector banks, the state president lamented that the government has been relentlessly working to denationalise many more nationalised banks which in turn will create difficulties to the middle class people of the country.
Pointing out that the government of India has taken up steps to privatise public sector banks, Bijoy said that United Ferrum of Bank Union has staged agitations denouncing the decision of the government since the past 3-4 years.
