Imphal, July 21 2022:
The All Tribal Indigenous Peoples' Organisation Manipur (ATIPOM) has lauded the arduous efforts of the incumbent Government to bridge the chasm between the hills and the valley.
The organisation in a press release pledged full support to the Government's commitment to promote the harmonious development of the State with special focus on bridging the emotional and developmental divide between the hills and valley regions of the State.
In this regard the organisation expressed joy on the launching of Go To Hills 2.0' with a mission to bring the Government closer to the people by building friendly relationships with and among the public through rigorous development.
It also took cognizance of the recent projects initiated by the Government and equipment provided worth crores of rupees to mark the launch of the initiative.
However ATIPOM maintained that the funding pattern for the programmes is incompatible with achievement of the slated goals since there is no additional funding and separate budget for this excellent policy which may hinder the delivery of the program's benefits.
The organisation also commended the much acclaimed People's Day (Meeyam gi Numit), Hills People's Day, Hills Leaders' Day and flagship, events to provide a platform to the people to voice their problems and propose suggestions and a forum for Tribal chiefs and hill-based civil society organization leaders to discuss their issues, identity obstacles and push for stronger hill-valley connections to promote equitable development.
For the successful implementation of such remarkable initiatives, the organization urged the Government to fill out the skeletons of these flagship programmes in order to make them compatible with the goals of Go To Hills, added the release.
In addition, ATIPOM also appealed to the Government to address the infrastructure deficit in the hills to bridge the development gap with a particular focus on health and education facilities.
Lastly the organisation made an appeal to pass a separate budget by the Manipur State Assembly or State Cabinet to translate all the above noble policies of the Government into reality for the benefits of the hill people.
