Imphal, July 21 2022:
MGNREGS Implementing Agency Committee has cautioned of blockading the national highways passing through the state from July 24 if authorities concerned fail to release the pending fund of MGNREGS.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Thursday, Committee president Mark Prou charged the state government of not releasing the MGNREGS fund in-spite of the same already sanctioned by the central government.
A sum of Rs 7,56,49,62,000 was already released by the central government for the financial year 2022-2023, but the state government released only Rs 23,003.00 lakh, which is meant for wages, on May 31 after several agitations.
However, the released fund did not reach the hill areas.
As such, the fund should be released within July 24, he demanded, while cautioning
of imposing blockade on both National Highway 2 and 37 if the minister concerned and authorities do not honour their demand.
