IMOM felicitates meritorious tribal students

Imphal, July 21 2022:
Indigenous Minority Organisation Manipur (IMOM) felicitated meritorious tribal students, who cleared 10th and 12th standard examinations conducted by state and central boards in a function held at Manipur Dramatic Union hall, Yaiskul Police Lane, here on Thursday.
Saikul MLA Kimneo Haokip Hangshing and IMOM president Rengenson Thanga attended the programme as chief guest and president respectively while additional secretary (education-S) N Bandana, former UCM president Sunil Karam and IMSCOM president Momsokam Bapui were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Kimnei thanked IMOM for encouraging meritorious tribal students and stressed the need for providing additional support to the tribal students so that they could pursue for achieving their life-goal.
Though the government is implementing various schemes and policies for the development of tribal population, most of the people do not have proper knowledge and failed to get the benefits, she said.
MLA Kimneo opined that amid
the increasing divisiveness, it is important to promote and create a positive learning environment where students from different communities and background feel valued, loved and heard.
She continued, "We must encourage our minority students to use multiple resources to help them acquire information to contribute positively to their lives" .
Over 50 students, who cleared the examinations in the first division, were encouraged by presenting certificates and gifts.
Silas Anth, general secretary IMOM, delivered the keynote address while Rev H Apila prayed for the successful students after the presentation of certificates and cash rewards.
N Bandana Devi and Rev H Apila also spoke on the occasion apart from other special invitees.
