Govenor assures to address grievances of Lilong public

Governor La Ganesan visited Lilong Sub-Division in Thoubal district and interacted with District Level Officers (DLOs), representatives of Civil Society Organisations and student leaders on Thursday, and heard the grievances and issues faced by the people in the sub-division.
He also assured them of all possible help from government.
Speaking at the programme, Governor Ganesan affirmed that the government is always ready to serve the people and for this purpose, various schemes have been introduced and implemented by the central and state government.
While noting that many availed benefits of such schemes, he maintained that other issues like improvement of health facilities, provision of safe drinking water to every household, improvement of education sector and connectivity, etc.,
will also be addressed in a time bound manner.
The Governor continued that the government is planning to address these issues and relevant processes have been initiated.
"Almost all roads will
be repaired within nine months, and latest by a year," he said and added that under Jal Jivan Mission, works have started to augment existing infrastructures of water supply so as to ensure safe drinking water to every household.
On Covid-19 pandemic, Ganesan reminded that the state had no substantial number of cases for the past several months.
However, during the last month, the number spiked, though
things are under control.
"We have to be still very careful and alert," he stressed and appealed to all eligible citizens to get vaccinated as it is the best way to defeat the pandemic.
Expressing concern over the increasing number of youths abusing drugs and trafficking in the state, Ganesan also pointed out that it is such a negative trait for which all should cooperate with the government to tackle the menace.
It is a huge challenge in the nation building, he added.
With regard to the country attaining 75 years of Independence this year and on celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Governor also urged the gathering to celebrate Independence Day with joy and hoist National Flag in every household in the state.
He also appealed to all sections of society to co-operate with the government in any developmental works taken in the state.
While welcoming the Governor, Lilong MLA Md Abdul Nasir said it has been a proud moment that constitutional head of the state has come down to the subdivision and listened to grievances and issues faced by the people of Lilong area.
Hoping that the Governor would, in his capacity, extend aid and assistance in the development of the area, Abdul said that upgrade of health care facilities is the priority among others issues and that he would also apprise the government in this regard.
He also announced that a drug de-addiction centre will be shortly opened in Lilong.
Secretary to Governor Bobby Waikhom also spoke on early detection and treatment of Tuberculosis (TB) to achieve India's goal of TB eradication by 2025 .
Earlier, Governor Ganesan was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at the venue by Thoubal deputy commissioner Ahanthem Subhash Singh and other officers of District Administration.
Representatives of civil society organisations and student leaders also submitted memorandums raising issues and grievances and urged the Governor to necessary measures at the earliest.
