Imphal, July 21 2022:
Unknown miscreants reportedly caused damage to tree saplings recently planted in Lilhakhong area and broke lock of the fencing erected to keep away stray animals.
Lilhakhong Development
Committee (LDC), which has been looking after the planted saplings in Lilhakhong area, strongly decried such act of destruction.
Speaking in this regard on Thursday, LDC secretary L Bhumeshwor informed
that under the supervision of Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam it has been developing Lilhakhong canal which flows on the side of Khangemba road (from Maibam Leikai to MU Gate no 2) .
As there were
apprehensions of filling up of the canal, which has been in existence since the reign of Maharaj Gambhir Singh, LDC worked tirelessly for maintaining the canal and its surrounding area.
Amid such relentless efforts, some joggers found the lock of the fenced area broken on Thursday and on further enquiry the tree saplings too were found destroyed, he conveyed.
While urging authorities
concerned to look into the matter, Bhumeshwor informed that a complaint will be registered at Singjamei police station so as to take actions against the involved miscreants.
