Pay royalty & transit fee: DFO

The Divisional Forest Officer, Kai Forest Division, has directed all concerned to pay requisite royalty and transit fee to avoid any legal actions.
In a release, DFO, N Ganesh.
1FS, informed that a number of trucks carrying Dimapur sand have been bypassing Forest Beat Offices along Imphal-Dimapur Highway without requisite transit pass.
The DFO further cautioned that any vehicle found entering the jurisdiction of Kangpokpi Forest Division without valid documents would be seized and confiscated under the provision of Indian Forest Act 2018 (Amendment) and Manipur Forest Rule 2021 .
Meanwhile, during a routine checking of vehicles travelling along NH-02 staff of Kangpokpi forest Division on July 18, 2022, detained eight Tata trucks carrying Dimapur sand and two trucks with river stones sourced from illegal quarry sites of Imphal Iril Protected Forests.
Upon checking it was found that the truck drivers were not in possession of Certificate of Origin issued by DFO concerned in prescribed format and other relevant documents for transportation of such forest products.
The Range Forest Officer then confiscated the forest products, vehicles and tools used in committing the offence and Preliminary Offence Reports (POR) were filed under relevant sections of the law.
Later the confiscated sand and stones were released after payment of requisite fee.
