Bicycle rally organised, tree saplings planted

In connection with the observance of World Bicycle Day over hundred cyclists took part in an awareness rally while tree saplings were planted in support of the state government's 'War on Drugs' campaign and poppy cultivation on Friday.
The cycle rally held under part the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was jointly organised by Churachandpur district administration, district police, Forest Division and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Churachandpur.
The rally was flagged off from Churachandpur Public Ground by SP Shivanand Surve.
After covering about 8 km towards the north along the Tedim Road, the participants joined in planting trees pl Saihenjang village along with the SP, and other ranks and files of the district police.
The rally culminated at Peace Ground, Tuibong.
Speaking on the sidelines of the rally, NYK Churachandpur deputy director H Doungel informed that objective of the rally was to spread awareness and sensitise the public on adverse impacts of poppy cultivation and harmful effects of drugs as well as to inculcate sense of healthy, fit and drug free life among the youth.
