Imphal, June 03 2022:
The Manipur Legislative Assembly newly renovated guest house was inaugurated by MAHUD Minister Y Khemchand today.
The inaugural function was also attended by Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata, Secretary K Meghajit, Additional Secretary Rohit Sapam and Joint Secretary G Tapan Kumar.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Khemchand appealed to all concerned to make the guest house comparable to guest houses of other State Assemblies.
He said that he used to stay at guest houses of other State Assemblies when he went to attend Speakers' conferences during his tenure as the Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly.
"Sometimes, representatives of other States said they would like to visit Manipur and asked me if the Manipur Legislative Assembly had its own guest house where they could stay.
These questions saddened me very much as our guest house was not in proper shape", said the ex-Speaker.
He said that he started renovating the guest house as he was determined to make it worthy for visitors from other States and went on to claim that the Old Assembly Secretariat has been transformed into a living narrative of the State's political history after it was converted into a museum.
Speaking at the gathering, Speaker Th Satyabrata conveyed gratitude to the ex-Speaker for the latter's pro-active role in renovating the guest house.
