Six strike gold medals at State jr boxing c'ships

Six gold medal bouts were decided on the second day of the State Level Boxing Championships 2022 for junior boys and girls at the Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena on Friday.
Md Mujan (Kakching), Mashungchui Phungshok (Ukhrul), Md Miraj (Kakching), Punshiba Moirangthem Singh (Thoubal), Sinam Allar Singh (Imphal West) and Leimapokpam Binod Kumar Singh (Imphal West) all walked away with the yellow metal.
In the -46kg junior boys' final, Md Mujan beat Mutum Nikison Meetei (IE) by a 4-1 margin, Mashungchui Phungshok dominated Angom Ronaldo (Bpr) 5-0 to win the -48 kg junior boys' event, Md Miraj too secured an easy 5-0 win against his IE oppoenent Moirangthem Yaikhomba Singh in the -52kg junior boys' final, Punshiba Moirangthem defeated Aribam Sakil (Kak) 3-2 to clinch the -60kg junior boys' gold medal, Sinam Allar made light work of Rengneivar Serto Kom (Cep) 5-0 in the -63kg junior boys' summit clash, and Leimapokpam Binod outclassed Takhellambam Borish (Bpr) 5 -0 in the -66kg junior boys' gold medal bout.
The day also saw 10 boxers make it to the finals in different weight categories.
Laishram Jayalaxmi Devi (-45kg jr girls), Luwangleima Soram (-46kg jr girls), Khumanthem Sinthoi Devi (-52kg jr girls), Luxmi Ningthoujam (-52kg jr girls), Amatjit Takhellambam Singh (-50kg jr boys), Thongam Nilbir Singh (50kg jr boys, Ngariyanbam Jupiter Singh (-54kg jr boys), Yaikhomba Laishram Singh (-54kg jr boys), Elangbam Sunanda Singh (-57kg jr boys) and Khomdram Bikash Singh (-57kg jr boys) all triumphed in their respective semifinal bouts.
