Senapati, August 26 2026: A high-level Manipur Government delegation reviewed the security situation in Senapati with security forces today before holding a closed-door meeting with the United Naga Council (UNC), following recent tensions in the district.

The Government delegation was led by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho and included MLA T Robindro, DGP Mukesh Singh, and ADGP (AP/Mod/Int/L&O) Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo.

The delegation first held discussions with security personnel from the CRPF, Assam Rifles and Senapati police, along with the district Superintendent of Police Zaib Shaikh, to review the prevailing security situation.

Following the security meeting, the delegation held a closed-door meeting with a seven- member UNC team led by its president Ng Lorho.

The details of the discussions and any decisions reached during the meeting were not immediately disclosed by the officials or the UNC .

The high-level meetings came a day after security forces conducted a cordon-and-search operation at Ta- phou Kuki, Taphou Liang-mai and other neighbouring Naga villages during which, two SBBL guns, live and empty ammunition rounds and other items were recovered.

Three bunkers-two at Taphou Kuki and one at Taphou Liangmai-were also destroyed during the operation.

The visit comes amid continued heavy security deployment in and around Taphou following recent tensions, with the Government and security agencies reviewing the situation and engaging with civil society representatives.
