The recently concluded Shirui Lily Festival has broken new grounds, showcasing the immense potential to promote tourism in Manipur as the 4-day festival recorded a footfall of 2.19 lakh tourists and made a floating revenue of about Rs 14.36 crore with an investment of just Rs 4.5 crore.
As per a data collected by a firm hired by the Tourism Department and based on other sources, it was found that more than 2.19 lakh tourists, including foreigners attended the festival which was held from May 25 to 28 in different venues to promote Manipur culture and Shirui Lily and a sum of Rs 14.36 crore was collected as Returns of Investment (RoI) in different forms.
Apart from the State collecting a considerable revenue, the festival, as per the data, also provided a platform to promote the local economy as many local people were able to notch up big sales during the 4-day festival.

It is reported that the maximum number of tourists attended the festival on the last day (May 28) which also saw a captivating performance from UK based progressive metal band Monuments with a record attendance of more than one lakh people.
The other big attraction was the Miss Shirui Lily contest where a number of young damsels vied for the coveted crown.
The Miss Shirui Lily pageant was organised by the 7 Sisters Foundation under the Shirui Lily State Festival Entertainment Sub-Committee.
The winner of the Miss Shirui Lily pageant, Levin Luithui was also granted a wild card entry in the National finals of the Rubaru Miss India Elite beauty pageant apart from winning a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh.
As per the data, every tourist spent about Rs 650 on average per day and events such as Shirock and adventure sports were the favourite among the tourists.
Despite the huge footfalls, some of the youth who attended the festival claimed that the number of international and domestic tourists attendance in this year's festival was lesser as compared to previous editions in 2017, 2018 and 2019 .

They also expressed the need to incorporate more exciting events and improve the infrastructure so as to attract more tourists in the future editions of the Shirui Lily Festival.
