Imphal, June 03 2022:
The All Manipur PSA (Pressure Swing Absorption) Oxygen Plants Committee has urged the State Government to extend the contract of technical staff hired to operate oxygen plants and release their pending honoraria at the earliest.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, committee president Laishram Surjit claimed the Government has been withholding the salaries of technical staff being engaged in different district hospitals to operate oxygen plants since the onset of the second wave of the Covid epidemic.
He further appealed to extend the contract of the technical staff, claiming that they are still not relieved from their duty despite the expiry of their contract on the request of the authorities at different hospitals.
Continuing that they will no longer work if the Government doesn't heed the demand, Surjit reminded that the technical staff at Thoubal and Churachandpur district hospitals started working since May 20, 2021 while the remaining were engaged since the first week of November 2021 .
Claiming that the technical staff, however, haven't received any payment till date apart from those working at Thoubal and Churachandpur who also received salary for only two months, he urged the State Government to release their honoraria at the earliest.
According to him, altogether 55 technical staff were hired to operate oxygen plants in different district hospitals.
