Assn urges Govt to fulfil charter of demands

All Manipur PHED Workers and Employees' Association has urged the government to fulfil its charter of demands at the earliest.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club, here, on Saturday, Association president Sapam Samungou re called that the Association had submitted a 20-point charter of demands for ensuring proper functioning of PHED to the Governor of Manipur, the Chief Minister and officials concerned on October 7.The demands include regularisation of 888 work charged employees, contract employees and those who were not included in the casual and muster roll of 1999; clearance of pending salaries of casual employees; providing benefits of government pension scheme to work charged employees who have been working for more than 5 years; establishing an administration of PHED; promotion of Grade -III, IV and non-gazetted officers by preparing specific promotion rules for the department to grade post; providing service protection to 479 employees regularised from work-charged in 1999; while fixing the date of entering work charge as the start of service; revising the wages of ministerial and field staff (muster roll and casual employees) and providing Variable Dearness Allowance; providing overtime allowance; appointment of next of kin to the post held by work charged, muster roll and contract employees, who died while in service; fulfilling the demands made during 1988 to 1999; reviewing of work study committee report; and lastly, ensuring effective implementation of Acts concerning the department for proper operations.
Shamungou further urged the government to discuss the demands and translate them into action at the earliest so that the department could serve the people at its best level.
