Lion Clubs donate to Senior Friendly Park

Imphal, October 08 2022:
In connection with Lions Service Day, Lions Club of Imphal and Imphal North donated various items such as chair, dustbin, carom board, LED bulbs, etc., to Senior Friendly Park located at Awang Wabagai Health & Welfare Centre campus, on Saturday.
Delivering the keynote address, Lions District 322 past district governor H Manikumar said that the Lions Service Day is being observed throughout the world in remembrance of the club's first ever convention held from October 8 to 10 in 1917 after being founded by Melvin Jones in June the same year.
As part of the observance, Lion Clubs have been extending services to the needy, he said.
Regarding the Senior Friendly Park, Awang Wabagai Health & Welfare Centre's community health officer Ranita Maibam pointed out that it was set up with the stated objective to create a relaxing environment for the senior citizens who are suffering from loneliness.
It also provides a safe site for practising Yoga, light exercises and recreations for the aged people, she added.
Lions Clubs of Imphal president Dr P Brajamani and Imphal North past president N Raghumani also spoke on the occasion while Awang Wabagai Development Committee secretary expressed gratitude to the two Lions Clubs for providing the materials.
